Research → Capability → Deployment

Force multipliers for global challenges.

DeLuca Industries builds software, systems and hardware for the problems that cost lives, money and time at scale. Every capability starts as research inside Quantum Edge Labs. The ones that multiply what a team can do are hardened and fielded here.

Quantum Edge Labs

From lab bench to field deployment.

Quantum Edge Labs is the research arm. It takes on competition briefs, grant challenges and unsolved field problems. Ideas that prove they can multiply human capability move through four gates before they carry the DeLuca Industries name.

01

Quantum Edge Labs

Research

Open problems from defense, humanitarian and resilience challenges. Concepts are generated, modeled and stress-tested on paper first.

02

Quantum Edge Labs

Prototype

Parametric hardware, working mobile builds and AI pipelines. Each prototype must beat the expensive, closed incumbent on cost or access.

03

DeLuca Industries

Harden

Security, compliance and reliability engineering. Data handling is designed for the sensitive environments these tools operate in.

04

DeLuca Industries

Field

Deployed to responders, investigators, enterprises and communities, as SaaS, open hardware or an open platform anyone can build on.

Capability domains

Six fronts. One operating thesis.

Wherever a critical system is expensive, closed or out of reach, we build the open, affordable or automated alternative.

Resilience & Continuity

Agentic plan assessment, autonomous exercises and gap analysis against standards like NIST SP 800-34.

Crisis & Humanitarian

Field reporting and response tooling built for disaster zones, low bandwidth and high stakes.

Open Spectral Hardware

Phone-paired spectrometers on open designs, from counterfeit medicine screening to field chemistry.

Intelligence & OSINT

Offline-capable analysis, investigative tooling and open-source intelligence that stays in the analyst's hands.

Autonomous Systems

Underwater swarm robotics and sensor networks that extend reach where people can't safely go.

Applied AI Platforms

RAG architectures, agentic workflows and transcription pipelines that turn hours of expert work into minutes.

Program manifest

Active programs.

Status reflects where each program sits in the pipeline. Fielded systems are available now. Development programs are taking early partners.

Doctrine

Find the system that is expensive, closed or out of reach. Build the one that isn't.

Multiply

One operator, ten times the reach. We only ship what measurably extends what a person or team can do.

Open

Open by default. Open hardware and open platforms wherever openness serves the mission and the people it protects.

Field-first

Built for the worst day. Low bandwidth, offline operation and degraded conditions are design inputs, not edge cases.

Trust

Sensitive data stays sensitive. Keep only what the mission needs, for only as long as it needs it.

Leadership

Military discipline, technical depth and an entrepreneur's bias for shipping.

Mark DeLuca has spent his career in the moments when systems fail: disaster recovery, continuity planning and crisis response. He founded DeLuca Industries to put the tools he wished existed into the hands of the people doing that work.

Quantum Edge Labs is where those tools begin. Mark runs commercial products, research competitions and public-interest projects in parallel, on the principle that a breakthrough in one domain is often the missing piece in another.

Spectral Commons Open Spectroscopy Platform

You can't tell a counterfeit pill from a real one by looking at it. Neither can the pharmacist, the clinic worker, or the person about to take it. Spectral Commons can.

1 in 10medical products in low- and middle-income countries is substandard or falsified (WHO estimate)
~188people in the U.S. die of a drug overdose every day, with fentanyl-contaminated counterfeit pills a major driver (CDC provisional data, 12 months ending Feb 2026)

Handheld Raman spectrometers can read a pill's chemical fingerprint in seconds, even through packaging. The technology exists, but it sits behind proprietary hardware and closed reference libraries. The people closest to the problem rarely have access.

Spectral Commons is an open mobile platform for handheld spectroscopy. It launches with OpenRx Guardian, a counterfeit-medicine screener, and is built so that anyone with a detection problem can add their own module.

How an OpenRx Guardian scan works

  1. Place the pill or blister pack on the reader.
  2. Scan. The live spectrum is compared against a reference peak library.
  3. Verdict in plain language in under a minute: authentic match, suspected substandard formulation, or a hard safety flag when contamination markers such as fentanyl appear.
  4. Proof. A peak-by-peak breakdown shows exactly where the sample departs from the reference, so a pharmacist can check the reasoning. No black box.

A platform, not a single app

Counterfeit medicine is the first problem, not the only one. A toxicologist, food-safety researcher or hazmat specialist can describe a detection need in plain language. The AI-guided module builder turns that into a working detection module, with reference peaks, tolerance thresholds and verdict logic, without the expert writing code. Modules can be published free, sold, or kept private.

  • Pharmacies and clinics in counterfeit-drug hotspots
  • Harm-reduction organizations screening for fentanyl contamination
  • NGOs auditing drug supply chains in low-resource settings
  • Future modules: hazardous-chemical identification, food safety, environmental testing, materials authentication and emerging medical research

Architecture

Layer 1 · Measurement

A spectroscopy engine makes the call on the data using deterministic, auditable rules.

Layer 2 · Conversation

Claude explains results, answers questions and helps experts build modules. It never overrides the measurement.

The platform is designed for failure first. Errors are classified automatically: non-critical issues are fixed on the spot, and critical ones are queued for operator approval before anything changes.

NEXUS Investigation Intelligence

An open-source intelligence platform built for investigators who need to see the whole picture.

NEXUS renders complex case data as an interactive relationship graph: persons of interest, locations, communications, social accounts, financial links, vehicles and physical evidence, all connected in a live, physics-driven visual network.

Built as a self-contained browser application, NEXUS requires no installation, no account and no server. It runs entirely on the investigator's machine, including air-gapped and offline environments. Case data is stored locally and exported as encrypted .nxs files that can be shared between team members or archived.

Capabilities

  • Interactive node-link graph with physics simulation and manual layout control
  • 20+ typed node categories, including Person, Phone, Location, Social, Vehicle, Financial and Evidence
  • Timeline view for sequencing events and communications
  • AI-assisted analysis via Claude integration: pattern recognition, contradiction detection and summary generation
  • Case export to structured PDF and JSON formats
  • Full offline operation with no external data transmission

NEXUS was developed by Mark DeLuca under the MadiGray Foundation mission to accelerate missing persons investigations through open-source tooling. The platform is actively maintained and community-contributed on GitHub, with all changes reviewed and approved before deployment.
